Easypress Announces Atomik Import Version 2.0 for QuarkXPress Version 6.5
Automatic population of QuarkXPress templates with XML content
London - 30th November 2004 - Easypress Technologies, the leading developer of XML solutions for QuarkXPress, today announces the availability of Atomik Import Version 2.0 for QuarkXPress Version 6.5.
“Atomik Import represents the latest development in our product evolution strategy”, said Mike Evans, Easypress Technologies’ managing director. Last year we introduced Atomik Xport Personal Edition as a tiger brand for customers who needed to export well-formed XML from their QuarkXPress documents, and this year we are doing the same for customers who want to move in the other direction. Atomik Xport is a product which will appeal to the growing number of publishers, design agencies, catalogue producers, and printers for whom XML is now mainstream technology.” Version 2.0 of Atomik Import is being launched at Online Information 2004 and first customer shipments will be at the end of January 2005. It runs as an XTension under the latest version of QuarkXPress, version 6.5, and also under QuarkXPress 6.1. It is available on both Mac and Windows platforms.
Some of the key features are:
Automatically populates multiple QuarkXPress pages with content from multiple XML files. This ability, to import XML content from multiple files into multiple QuarkXPress pages using a variety of techniques such as placeholders and chained text boxes, is a key strength of the product. It represents an attractive combination of flexibility and automation.
Continue to enjoy the familiarity and print precision of QuarkXPress Organisations have already invested in workflows based around QuarkXPress, and Atomik Import can add XML import capability into these existing workflows, rather than require designers and printers to learn new tools.
Flexible XML import works with all XML document types Atomik Import doesn’t require you to change your XML in order to print it, or to add complex mark-up or processing instructions within the XML. Any well-formed or valid XML file can be used with Atomik Import, without modification. Atomik Xport provides a flexible solution whereby styling and positioning is defined in your page design tool by interpreting the structure of the XML; rather than expecting publications to be designed by a database programmer.
Requires no additional scripting or additional XML transformation Some methods for importing XML involve using some form of scripting, and whilst this appears to be straightforward, it suffers from not being a standard solution. Costly and time consuming issues relating to script maintenance, unanticipated XML constructions and constraints on the design of the publication are almost certain to arise.
