Easypress Technologies Announces its support within its Atomik technology for the International Digital Publishing Forum EPUB Standards
Easypress announces that it has joined the International Digital Publishing Forum to incorporate the IDPF’s EPUB standards for eBook production into its Atomik technology for Adobe InDesign and QuarkXpress.
London – February 4th 2009 – Easypress Technologies, today is announcing their support for the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) EPUB XML standards for eBook production within their Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress Server products for Dynamic Publishing.
Atomik® Quantum Publisher is a ground-breaking solution for book design houses and book publishers for the production of eBooks to both print and EPUB formats simultaneously.
This break-through in the publishing of eBooks to the internationally recognised IDPF EPUB standard represents a major step forward for Book Publishers struggling with producing eBooks to the approved EPUB standard for book readers such as the Sony Book Reader, Mobipocket reader for the iPhone and Kindle Book Reader.
The introduction of Atomik® Quantum Publisher technology supporting the IDPF EPUB standard into the market opens a new chapter for Easypress Technologies’ who’s core XML technology has since 2000 lead the way in the repurposing of Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress content into XML supported online and publishing formats. Easypress has been developing and selling its Atomik XML technology to more than 500 global publishing clients. The Atomik XML technology allows its users to automatically extract XML from Adobe InDesign documents at the “press of a button”. Atomik® Quantum Publisher now combines this technology with the IDPF standard for eBook EPUB production into a single platform for the first time.
“We believe that the growing market for book reading on mobile devices will be the biggest revolution in the Book Publishing world in a generation” says James Macfarlane the CEO of Easypress Technologies, “the rapid appearance of book reading technology from Sony, Amazon and Apple will in time transform the way we educate, read for pleasure and take our written news”. Macfarlane went on to say “By joining the IDPF Easypress Technologies is committing itself to being in the vanguard of the coming eBook revolution. Easypress for sometime has through its Atomik technology been able to extract book content in Adobe InDesign or QuarkXPress typesetting formats to eBook XML standards such as PAM-Normal. However we have recently used the introduction of our new Atomik® Quantum Publisher to fully integrate the IDPF EPUB formats to automatically produce EPUB standardised eBook for the leading book reading devices”.
Finally Macfarlane commented that “Working with IDPF and our Book Publishing clients it is our intention to demonstrate that our Atomik XML technology can help Book Publishers dramatically reduce the time it takes to produce EPUB standard books for the leading book readers and improve the quality of the finished eBooks”.
“We welcome Easypress Technologies into the IDPF community” says Michael Smith the Executive Director of IDPF, “we are living in a period of rapid growth for the eBook markets and we are seeing the IDPF EPUB standard taking a lead with many North American and European Book Publishers”. Smith went on to say “We believe leading expertise in XML technology from companies like Easypress Technologies will significantly contribute to this emerging market as EPUB adoption continues to grow”.
