Roularta Selects Atomik for Cross-Media Publishing
QuarkXPress-to-XML declared fast, easy and cost-effective

LONDON - February 4, 2002 - Roularta Media Group, Belgium's foremost publishing group, has selected Atomik(tm) for all its QuarkXPress-to-XML conversion. Atomik will facilitate the company's cross-media publishing strategies enabling content to be automatically repurposed from QuarkXPress(tm) to electronic media including the Web and CD-ROMs. Atomik was selected due to its ease of use, complete automation and fast return on investment.

Rapid Return on Investment
"Atomik will enable us to maximise the value of our editorial assets held in QuarkXPress, by reusing them, via XML, in other electronic media" said Erwin Danis, Premedia Director at Roularta and responsible for the companies 200-strong Pre-Media division. "The cost savings that Atomik will bring about in respect to repurposing print content, will result in a rapid return on investment and open up many new content opportunities for us."

The selection of Atomik represents an important technology decision for Roularta Media Group and follows on from several months of extensive testing and evaluation of the leading QuarkXPress-to-XML solutions available.

Easy-to-use
"We chose Atomik because of its ease-of-use combined with its complete automation of the extraction process." said Eric Verkeyn, Roularta Training Manager. "Atomik gives us total control of the process without unnecessary and costly reliance on 3rd party support. We can flexibly implement Atomik on a variety of publications using internal resources and as Atomik separates out the complexities of XML from the simplicity of using the product, each department within Roularta can focus on what they're best at whether that be IT, production or design."

Atomik is being deployed at Roularta Media Group and implemented across a range of publications including several regional and national magazines and newspapers. It will be used to automate the process of transferring content from QuarkXPress to several Websites and CD-ROM products.

"We are delighted that Roularta has chosen Atomik for such an important part of their cross-media publishing strategy," said Gavin Drake, Easypress Technologies Marketing Manager. "Roularta has a track record as a technology leader in the publishing industry, not just in Belgium but across Europe. We feel sure that many other publishers will follow their lead in minimising the cost of repurposing QuarkXPress content as XML, making cross-media publishing viable and profitable."
