7.1.3 “Exclude Box” checkbox

The “Exclude Box” checkbox is enabled whenever a box is selected in the layout. By checking it, you exclude the box from extraction, irrespective of mapping rules or content model. This functionality works for both text and picture boxes.

With Grouped boxes, you have two options:

To exclude an individual box within the group, use QuarkXPress’s ‘Content Tool’ or ‘Text Content Tool’ to select the box, before ticking the Exclude Box checkbox.

To exclude the entire group, use QuarkXPress’s ‘Item Tool‘ to select the group, before ticking the Exclude Box checkbox.

The “Exclude Box” facility is useful to remove advertisements from magazine extractions, for example.
