Overview Atomik Xport is the fastest and easiest way to get content out of QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign into valid XML. Atomik Xport is tightly integrated into either QuarkXPress v7 or v6; or Adobe InDesign CS3 and CS2. This performance is achieved through Atomik Xport's unique Automated Matching System (AMS) which scans the document and identifies relationships between the content and XML elements. This approach negates the need for manual identification of content or strict adherence to style sheets but doesn't sacrifice the validity of the final XML output. Atomik Xport is ideal for repurposing existing QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign content for web, mobile, PDA or any other XML related publishing, hence enabling companies to maximise the value of their content.
Easypress can SAVE you Money! If you "Cut & Paste", outsource your content extraction or script your own XML extraction code then Xport can save you time, money and do a better job. Atomik Xport gives you 100% accurate extraction of XML first time; in a fraction of the time it takes to get your XML [typical whole book magazine extractions are less than 3 minutes] and the qulality of the XML extracted is requires little or no manual checking.
Liberate YOUR Content QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign is used by millions of people all over the world to create a wide variety of publications from daily newspapers through to monthly magazines. With the advent of the Web, wireless devices, ebooks and cross-media publishing in general, extracting content from QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign so that it can be re-used has become of paramount importance. Equally important is how you can make the process fast, accurate and efficient. Why not download our White Paper on ( 'An ROI comparison of print to XML strategies' for details).
Atomik Xport solves these important issues by enabling you to automatically extract content as valid XML. The way it does this is by extracting your QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign document to a formal DTD [Document Type Definition]. All SQL databases, CMS and DMS can generate a DTD and it allows Atomik Xport to map the layout of your QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign document to the fields you wish to store your XML in your database. You can create your own DTD to suit or use one of the many industry standard DTDs available. Atomik Xport will work with the following industry standard DTDs - PRISM, DocBook, News Interchange {NTIF}, and all the others.
For those of you who just want webpages - Atomik Xport with work directly with Adobe Dreamweaver ( 'Adobe Dreamweaver CS3) to create HTML pages or with XSLT or CSS web page style sheets to create XHTML pages. Add your XSL transform into the product and Atomik Xport will automatically create your webpages.
Enhance YOUR Content Once the content has been extracted from your print documents as XML, you can optionally use Atomik Enhancer to further transform and enhance the XML. For example you can add additional information, known as metadata, to the XML documents such as the publisher’s name and copyright details, even though they were not in the original document. In this way you are enhancing the value of the content and enabling wider use and faster, more accurate information retrieval.
There are two key components to the Atomik Xport product, Atomik Xport and Atomik Enhancer. Atomik Xport is XTensions software for QuarkXPress or Plugins software for Adobe InDesign that extracts the contents of documents as XML. It does this by utilising the existing paragraph and character attribute information contained in the documents and relating this to the corresponding XML elements defined in a DTD. (see 'What is XML?' for details).
Atomik Xport Enterprise Edition With Atomik Xport Enterprise Edition you can automate the extraction process even further. If you wish to centralise the production of your XML in say, the Web Team you can purchase a server based version of Atomik Xport which means you can simply check and file your QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign documents anywhere in your publishing operation and have the XML extracted and validated centrally. This is done using a hot folder architecture within Atomik Xport Enterprise Edition which allows server based extraction but also includes all of the features of the Standard Edition of Atomik Xport plus support for AppleScript and other 3rd party XTensions software. If you wish to go further, the process can be coupled to a CMS system such as Alfresco to manage your workflow, provide collaboration and version manage all the files throughout the process.
Further information on Atomik Xport Enterprise Edition can be found in the Atomik Xport Enterprise Edition section.
